Spec V gets more torque and sheds 60kg - but it weighs in at double the price
The NISSAN GT-R Spec V, the long-awaited extreme version of Nissan's Porsche 911 Turbo rival, has finally been revealed.
The new car is a limited-edition speacial that's lighter, rarer and more expensive that the standard Nissan GT-R. It will come to Europe this year.Based on the facelift GT-R launched in Japan last month, the Spec V uses the standard car's new 485bhp twin-turbo V6, with a boost controller that lifts the 589Nm of torque by an extra 20Nm from 3500-5000rpm.
At 1680kg, the Spec V is 60kg lighter than the standard car.As part of the weight-saving regime, the Spec V loses its rear seats, and the boot spoiler, front grille and brake ducts are made from carbonfibre. The titanium exhaust is lifted from the Nismo Clubsports GT-R and helps to save another 5.4kg.
Inside, the GT-R Spec V gets a pair of ultra-slim Recaro seats with carbonfibre backs,Carbonfibre inserts also feature on the instrument panel. The ultra-stiff suspension set-up uses Blistein dampers, and the Spec V has Nissan's first production carbon-ceramic brakes, co0developed with Brembo.
Nissan claims that the new brales allow the Spec V todevelop a breaking force of up to 2G. Compared with the standard car's 1.4G.The wheels are lightweight 20-inch forged alloy items, and the car uses Bridgestone Pontenza RE070R run-flat tyres.
The GT-R Spec V has a planned monthly production of 20-30 units. In japan, prices start at around 112.000 almost twice the price of the standard GT-R.Nissan is remaining tight-lipped on the Spec V's pace; it has yet to release acceleration of top speed figures, or an official lap time around the Nrburgring.
